Accompanied by a parent, students in grades 6-8 can assist with playing with, reading to, and caring for younger children. Please have one parent per two student volunteers.
Tutoring & Homework Club: This is our most urgent volunteer need! We have anywhere from 8-15 school-age children looking for homework help. Volunteers can come at times that work for them to provide one-on-one tutoring with an individual child, or come at our prearranged "Homework Club" times to work within a group setting. Currently, Homework Club meets on Monday and Wednesdays from 4-5:15pm.

Student volunteers can read to small children or help young children with homework.
ChildWatch:
We are always looking for volunteers to play with our kids during our weekly community House meeting. We need volunteers Monday nights from 6:30-8pm as many times a month as possible!

Adult and youth volunteers are needed.
Other Projects: Making a photo collage of our residents and volunteers, decorating the homework club area, doing art projects with the kids in the house once a month, or organizing some sort of benefit for the kids at e-house such as a fundraising money to send kids to camp during the winter break, a time when mothers have to work their full time jobs.
Please go to the above Elizabeth House Web Site for a more information and a volunteer application.

Ongoing Activities
Piedmont Gardens will train and orient St. Theresa students to volunteering at Piedmont Gardens during the period of January through March. Training / Orientation sessions will take place in January. For Piedmont Gardens, it works best for them to have students come once or twice per month during a two to three month period.
If you are interested in volunteering with the ongoing activities, please contact me at a_good@sttheresaschool.org. I will be the liaison between St. Theresa and Piedmont Gardens.
Saturday Senior Center: Saturdays 9-12

Individual Visits
Visit with a senior regularly for the two to three month period. Offer technical assistance to seniors, helping several different people.
One time Activities
Groups of students can work together to plan a play, musical concert, sing along, or art project. These events would be planned and arranged in advance, and presented to the seniors at a single event.

Family Friendly Projects

All of the projects require a parent or guardian present during the entire duration of the project. We require one adult for every four youth at a project. Once you have chosen a project to attend with your child, you must sign yourself up for the project through your HOBA account and then email goodforfamilies@hoba.org to reserve spots for your family. In the email please specify which project you will be attending and the date, along with the number of youth that will be joining you.
